So &#8211; no need to cringe if you see your name and your title here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It occurred to me that reviewing other people&#8217;s books gives me an excuse to keep this website on the move, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some reviews will be long past the time when I should have written them. You might see books I read when I was 12. Or not. There are only so many hours in a day &#8211; and I am busy writing my own book. More about that another time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fishnets and Fantasies, by Jane Doucet (Vagrant Press, 2021)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/monicagraham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Fishnets-Fantasies-664x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-446\" width=\"289\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"http:\/\/monicagraham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Fishnets-Fantasies-664x1024.jpg 664w, http:\/\/monicagraham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Fishnets-Fantasies-194x300.jpg 194w, http:\/\/monicagraham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Fishnets-Fantasies-768x1185.jpg 768w, http:\/\/monicagraham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Fishnets-Fantasies-995x1536.jpg 995w, http:\/\/monicagraham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Fishnets-Fantasies.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes \u2013 well, quite rarely &#8211; when I finish reading a book, I hug it.<br>Jane Doucet\u2019s \u201cFishnets &amp; Fantasies\u201d got a hug from me \u2013 as well as tears and chuckles.<br>Yes, it\u2019s about sex.<br>But the story about Wendy\u2019s interest in opening a sex shop is more about making dreams come true, about preconceived assumptions and how they change. It\u2019s about love and loss and triumph and halleluiah moments and community and every other good part of being human that makes the world go around..<br>This a thoroughly enjoyable read, pulling the reader through a gamut of emotions to most satisfying ending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Losing it at 40, by Sarah Butland<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/monicagraham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Losing-it-at-40-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-447\" width=\"269\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"http:\/\/monicagraham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Losing-it-at-40-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/monicagraham.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Losing-it-at-40-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 269px) 100vw, 269px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> A comedic and lively romp through the experience of losing the infamous \u201cIT\u201d (as well as weight) at 40, this is the story of Annabelle, who determines that she will not continue into her 40\u2019s and beyond as a chubby, virginal, quiet spinster. \u00a0Sexy and tender &#8211; a fun Friday night read. Or any other night. Or day&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>Gaining it at 41<\/strong> by Sarah Butland \u2013 The sweet sequel to Losing It at 40, this is a must-read for anyone who read Butland\u2019s first. Annabelle\u2019s antics proceed past her 41<sup>st<\/sup> birthday to their natural consequences, with entertaining characters and funny \u2013 and relatable \u2013 circumstances and scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is where I will try to share with my buddies the books that I have read, recently or long ago.
